HealthLink BC provides 24/7 access to non-emergency health information and advice in British Columbia via telephone, a website, a mobile app, and a collection of print resources, including the BC HealthGuide Handbook. The website, www.HealthLinkBC.ca, provides medically-approved information on more than 5, 000 health topics, symptoms, and over-the-counter and prescription drugs and offers tips for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It also offers an integrated search and mapping function to more than 6, 100 health services to help British Columbians find health services close to their home communities. Selected service information is also available on the BC Health Services Locator app for Apple handheld devices. Residents of British Columbia can call 8-1-1 (7-1-1 for hearing impaired) from anywhere in the province to speak to a registered nurse, dietitian, pharmacist, or to find a health resource in their area. Translation services are available in more than 130 languages upon request.
