Backline #33395

Absolutely terrible repair shop. Went here on a recommendation from a Long and McQuade employee in order to get a mixer fixed out of warrenty. The 'technicians' are incompetent and couldn't give a shit about their work. The receptionist has clearly taken too much acid in her day; I'm stuck trying to decide if she simply tells you whatever it takes to end the conversation ASAP, or if she's just retarded. Here's my experience: I take my mixer there the first time to have worn out pots replaced. I am told that there is a queue, but once my mixer hits the work bench, it will go quickly. When I get it back a couple weeks later, it turns out they didn't do any of the work I asked. They opened it up, cleaned it, and put it back together. Great. Being a reasonable person, I account this to a miscommunication, and bring my mixer back again - this time clearly indicating the work that needs to be done, and double checking with the staff. Several weeks pass, and I still havn't heard anything, so I phone in myself. The receptionist tells me that they've ordered the parts, nothing is on back order, so they should be shipped and installed within another week. Several more weeks pass, so I phone in again. This time I'm talking to a technician, where it is explained to me that - suprise - ALL parts are either on back order or discontinued. Not only do I now have to wait for parts, I have to choose which elements will be replaced. Finally, today, $700 later, I have received my mixer. Again I have found that many of the repairs I requested have not been performed (not including the parts shortage, of course). More importantly, THE DEVICE NO LONGER OUTPUTS AUDIO. This is after they claim to have (and billed me for) testing the device. So long story short, started with a somewhat worn out but functional mixer, paid $700 and waited a copule months, and received a broken mixer. I will be phoning them back to decide if this is worth risking another repair, or if I should just take them to small claims court. Hope noone else makes the same mistake as I did by using Backline.
