disappointing New Year's

I made a reservation for 10 for New Year's eve at the Waterloo location. We were seated in the dining room and I was disappointed to have paper napkins especially on New Year's Eve We were given the choice of ordering off of the regular menu or from the 4 new year's eve specials. 3 guests ordered the blue-cheese steak special with the herb roasted potatoes. I ordered the steak from the regular menu. I ordered the salmon from the regular menu. All meals were brought to the table at the same time ...but the 3 steak orders with roasted herb potatoes came with no potatoes and those 3 guests were told that they had run out of potatoes and they would be brought from the kitchen in 15 minutes. Potatoes 15minutes after the rest of one's meal are just not acceptable/ Meals were completed and the potatoes were still not brought out so were cancelled. The steak ordered from the regular menu was not delivered-the blue cheese steak was delivered instead.-Blue cheese was scraped off to avoid delay of cooking another steak The manager came out to ask how things were and when we told him that if there were no potatoes, an option would have been to offer extra vegetables or complimentary coffee/tea, HIs response was "you should be happy you got steak, we ran out this afternoon and had to substitute for a different kind" With that he walked away. I'm sure we left a lot of money there that night but there will be 10 of is not returning. This is not a high class restaurant and the manager needs a few tips on how to please his guests so that they will return. Even a small gift certificate would have brought customers back. maybe head office can do something about this. Hoping to hear from you
