I brought a garment to have altrations. Specifically the sleeves shortened. Firstly, I was told it couldn't be done. Secondly, after some hesitation, it probably could but would cost $35.00 as it would be time consuming. It appeared that there was no interest in doing it and certainly didn't give me confidence in leaving the new garment there. Only three years ago I had sleeves shortened on a fur-trimmed jacket there. When I asked if it could be shortened the reply was "there isn't anything that can't be altered". It was a lovely job. I have dealt with this company since the '70's when John first came to Nfld. It's been sold now. Tailors should do all types of alterations. I've bought garments in other cities which have been totally reconstructed if too large. Seems people here get comfortable doing simple hemmings etc., that's where they want to stay. Or, if the buisiness is so great, hire more staff and keep your reputation.
